CIG Pannonia First Hungarian General Insurance Plc. (EMABIT), a subsidiary of CIG Pannonia Life Insurance Plc., the local authority of Győrújbarát and the Erika Deák Gallery, as professional partner, announced on 16 November 2011 their arts tender for the design and creation of a bust of Baron Henrik Kisteleki Lévay, the founder of First Hungarian General Insurance Company, which operated between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries.
The tender is open to all artists in Hungary; entries are being accepted from 17 November 2011. According to the underlying concept, the bronze bust sculpture will depict Baron Henrik Kisteleki Lévay, the most outstanding figure in the history of Hungarian insurance, in a traditional way, at a mature age.
Proposals can be sent based on the announced conditions until 16 January 2012; the winner will be announced on 31 January 2012. The bust will be presented to the public on 16 April 2012 in Győrújbarát, on the anniversary of Henrik Kisteleki Lévay’s birth.
Henrik Lévay was born on 16 April 1826 in Jankovácz (now Jánoshalma), in Bács county. In 1857, he established First Hungarian General Insurance Company and later he participated in the foundation of several other insurance companies in several parts of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His professional merit and charity work made him one of the most famous Hungarians; he was made a baron and became a member of the upper chamber of Parliament in 1897. CIG Pannonia EMABIT Plc. considers the work of Baron Henrik Kisteleki Lévay as its spiritual heritage and wishes to pay due respect to his memory.
